Friday Favorites – July 13

Happy Friday! I’ve been busy writing this week, so not time for much surfing and hopping. But here are a few favorites:

From time to time I hop over to Jean Wise’s blog, Healthy Spirituality, and I’m glad I did this week. She shares some of her favorite inspirational BOOKS (besides the Bible):

Ten Books That Feed My Mind And Spirit

Check out her suggestions and share some of yours!

This is a guest post by Mary Beth on Tereasa’s blog (His Pen On My Heart):

Freedom From The Lies of Perfection

I loved reading about her journey to finding acceptance in the Lord. I’m a neurotic first-born, so I know what it’s like to feel the need to “perform.” Her post will make you think!

Mary Beth has also started a new link-up on Wednesdays, WIP Wednesdays. If you’re new to link ups, here’s a great place to start and learn!

Mary Beth and Tereasa both have great content, so be sure to check them out!

Disclaimer: I’m not shamelessly linking to my own blog, I’m simply highlighting one of my most popular guest posts!

My friend Kim guest-posted for me last Friday, and shared some of the most practical tips for caring for a friend battling cancer:

Cancer Is A Journey No One Should Walk Alone

Kim has great content on her two blogs:

Hope Lives Now

Kim’s Ponderings Beyond Breast Cancer

Kim is a survivor herself, so she speaks from experience.

No book review or recipe link this week, but here’s something yummy:

Susan’s Easy 1-2-3 Vinaigrette

1 part oil
2 parts vinegar
3 parts sugar (or natural sweetener)
Optional – 1 squirt of dijon mustard

Great on green salads (with fruit and bleu cheese) or as a dressing for pasta salads. Fresh and delicious, especially with flavored vinegar. (which is super easy. I may post on that one day :) )

Finally, I saw this on Pinterest and it makes me smile:

Grab some watermelon and have a great weekend!

  1. I love the baby and his watermelon! Too cute! His expression is priceless.

Some of the books that have changed my life:
One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp
Captivating by John and Staci Eldredge
A Confident Heart by Renee Swope

I’ve noticed a lot of people doing the link-up thing on their blogs lately. What fun! I am going to get in on that action very soon.

  2. YOU are one of my Everyday Favorites!! Just sayin.
    Love you!

  3. I am so glad you featured Mary Beth’s post. I was very excited when she sent it to me because it clearly spoke a message of freedom. She is so good at organizing and articulating her thoughts!

Thank you for complimenting my content, as well. That was so thoughtful! It means a lot coming from you… especially since my content has been lacking while writing an ebook. :P

Love the watermelon pic! Too cute.

  4. Thank you so much for featuring my guest post and giving a shout out to the new link-up! I’m glad we’ve connected!

    Mary Beth

  5. I’m loving your Friday links, Susan! Thank you for introducing me to Kim (what a blessing she is!), Tereasa and Mary Beth. I now follow Kim’s blog and look forward to keeping up with Tereasa and Mary Beth’s as well.

And by the way, the salad dressing looks yummy. What a great way to kick off our weekend! Thanks friend. :)

    • YES! I’m so glad you’ve connected with these gals, Cathy. That’s what I’m loving about my Friday posts :)

And you’re going to love that dressing. Try it on a salad with field greens, grilled chicken, sliced strawberries, toasted almonds and bleu cheese. SO YUMMY and healthy too!

  6. I am humbled to be mentioned here. Thanks so much. I really had a hard time narrowing down to 10 books but know I really like reading other blogs where book lists are given – I find some of the best resources there.

And to top it off, you provided a great sounding recipe. Perfect!!

Have a wonderful and blessed weekend

    • Thanks, Jean! You suggested some great books. I hope you’ll get more ideas and expand your library!
