A Monday Pause ~ Perseverance

Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of a long weekend.
On this Labor Day, we thank You for
the blessing of living in a country that was

founded on Christian principles and a diligent work ethic.
We have opportunities here in the United States that
few people in the world have, and we are grateful.

Help us to stand for what’s right and set our families
and our country back on a course that honors You.
May we not lose heart and be diligent in the opportunities You give us.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen

How can I pray for you this week?
Your requests will find a home in my prayer journal :)

Please join me on Wednesday as I celebrate my 25th wedding anniversary!

  1. Sweet prayer, with the operative words”founded on christian principles”!!! Pray for these old legs….40 min run each day..and this morning I got turned around on my time and left at 4:30 AM to run!!! Who gets up at 4:30 ON VACATION to run?? Maybe we should pray for my brain, instead!! Happy 25th!!! :)

    • Heaven’s sakes — go back to bed!! I’m talking to myself too — long Monday that ended with at LATE game at VT, which has put me way behind on responding to comments!

Praying for you this week and hope you’re having fun on your vacation! Please take a nap this afternoon, though 8-)

  2. Sami starts school here tomorrow — pray that she finds GOOD, godly friends at this school because some of the stories I have heard so far have not been very good.

    • I will absolutely pray that for Sami, Brenda. I hope she finds a good group of friends and feels like she fits in at her new school.

  3. A good prayer for this labor day weekend Susan! Please pray for Jamie and I…for that good perseverence needed as we start our co blog study this week. Enjoy your celebration of your 25th anniversary…another marriage that is surviving and my guess is thriving! Thanks for your prayers. Have a blessed week!

    • Thanks, Glenda — we try to thrive, but somedays are better than others ;)
I will definitely pray for you and Jamie. Can’t wait to see how the Lord blesses your partnership!

  4. Susan,

Thank-you for this beautiful moment of silence this morning. I would appreciate and covet your prayers for me this week as I begin a couple of new teaching positions. I pray for God’s wisdom and knowledge as I influence and steer these children… it’s amazing the way they esteem me (both parent and child)… I want to be an instrument for the Lord.

Blessings to you, precious one, as you begin this new week. May God bless you and keep you. May He shine His face upon you and give you His peace.

    Marisa

    • Thank you, Marisa! And I’m praying that sweet blessing back on you as you start a new year with new students. I’m excited to hear about your adventures, and I know the Lord will bless you AND your kids. You’re such an inspiration!

  5. Susan – Thanks for this well-remembered verse today. It is a great source of strength and reassurance to me today as I face a mountain of challenges. It is not me, but Christ in me who enables me to do the work and do it well. Praying for you today as well. And my goodness, we have impeccable taste with wedding dates…Congratulations on 25!! We celebrated our 17th anniversary yesterday! :-)

    • How fun – we have matching anniversaries! We love having Labor Day weekend to ourselves — it’s the perfect time to get married :)
I’m praying your foot is healing, Jeannette. And I know He’ll work through all your challenges.

  6. Love the pic…and the prayer. Thank you for sharing! Congrats on your 25th anniversary, we celebrated our 26th this year!

  7. Beautiful prayer, Susan.

I would appreciate your prayers as we kick off our study on Abiding in Christ tomorrow night. More of Him, less of me.

I look forward to celebrating with you on Wednesday!

    • I’m excited about your new study, Cathy! Can’t wait to hear about it, and I know that God-sized group of ladies are in for a blessing!

  8. Anita Taylor says:

    Sus,

I am running behind on reading your blog…this is such a great verse….esp. when we know we can’t do anything without Him!!

Hope your Labor day weekend was fun.

    • Thanks, Anita! My weekend was busy, and Monday was crazy with getting ready to tailgate and then having a late game that went into overtime! We were really late getting home, so I’ll be dragging today. Hope you and sweet Mark had a great weekend too!

  9. One of my all-time favorite verses, Susan!

Hope you enjoyed your Labor Day weekend. And congrats on your 25th wedding anniversary! Woo-hoo! We just celebrated our 26th…an authentic miracle!

    Blessings to you!

  10. “diligent in the opportunities you give us” —yep, that’s the prayer I need right now! And happy aniversary…we celebrated our 23rd on the 19th.
