A Monday Pause ~ Mission Visit

Nehemiah 6:9b (NIV)

Happy Monday, everyone!
Yes, it’s an oxymoron, but it’s a happy one for me and three friends –
We leave Thursday for a scouting trip to Belize!
We’ll be meeting with a couple of missionary teams to see
how we can support the work they’re doing there.
I’ve never been to Central America so this will be a new adventure for me,
which of course I’ll blog about. (Check back on Oct 24th)

So today’s prayer is a little selfish, and I’d be honored if you’d lift up our team.

Heavenly Father, we ask that you bless our visit to Belize.
You know every challenge and hurdle we’ll face, so we ask that You give us
the strength and patience we’ll need to face them with Your grace.

Help us to strengthen the hands of the missionaries we’ll visit
by bringing encouragement, blessing and refreshment.

Give us clear direction as to how we can best support them and their work.
Thank You for the vision You’ve given us, and
prepare us for the God-incidences You have planned.
May all that we say and do
honor and glorify You.
In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen

I’m still praying for you guys, so please leave your requests
in the comments and know that some of those prayer bullets
will be firing from Central America!

  1. Selfish? No way, sister. It’s a privilege! Covering you and your team in prayer. I look forward to reading what God accomplishes through your trip.

  2. Father, I pray the blood of Jesus around Susan and her team ad a hedge of thorns around them that nothing form against them can prosper. I pray that you go before them to clear the path, breaking down the barriers before them. Thank you that they carry the Word of God, the sword of the spirit and the armor of Christ. Thank you that the seeds they plant are good seeds and will bring a mighty crop of food for their spirit and their bodies.

Thank you for the honor you give to them to serve You in such an amazing way.

In Christ name I pray, Amen.

  3. Susan, it’s an honor to pray for you sweet friend…and not selfish in the least! I would ask that you pray for my dear friend Suzie Wall. I can’t say what’s going on, but she’s really been struggling. Love you!

  4. Doug and I will be praying for you and your fellow travelers while on this trip. May God uplift all involved and provide many blessings.

  5. Anita Taylor says:

We have a lot of people praying for us!! Packing for Belize is like packing for the Philippines, I am really truly honored to be part of the team, I can say an answer to my prayers. My husband is so very supportive on anything I do & today we are shopping for what I need to take with me like batteries for my camera. Can’t wait to see ya my friend, I am halfway pack. Don’t forget the bug spray with deet. Did I mention to bring a long pants? Just in case we go into the bush, lots of bugs, we need to cover our legs. :)

  6. God bless your trip and yes, I will be praying. ;)

    Love, Hester ;)

  7. Breathing prayers, Susan! Relish in every precious moment…

  8. Father God, we lift Susan and her team as they are on mission for you. We pray for your covering and protection as they walk in your footsteps on the other side of the world. May their shoes of peace carry the good news of the gospel. May their mouths be open to speak truth in love. May you protect them from any scheme or weapon formed against them and the enemy kept at bay. We pray for travel mercies, good health, empowering grace and strength to go forth in your name with the angel of your presence going before them. In the name of Jesus, amen.

  9. Susan, you are leaving for your mission the day my son is returning from his latest medical mission in Albania. You can be sure I’ll be praying for you! I can’t personally participate in faraway missions, but I am thankful that the Lord hears my prayers for all those who physically carry His message to those who desperately need to hear it!

Blessings to you and your mission team!
    ~Anna

  10. It may feel selfish to you, but as evidenced by so many, it’s a privilege for the rest of us to pray, asking God to bless your work with success in response to your obedience to him. Thanks for allowing us to be blessed by this opportunity to pray!

  11. Sounds FABULOUS!!! Be careful and come back safely!!! I will be praying for y’all!!! (By the way…when Jimmy and I were in Belize, I left a pair of tennis shoes…..let me know if you find them) :)

  12. Happy to pray for you- have a safe and wonderful trip. Did you intend to include rhyme in your prayer? You did so subtly; it’s nice. I’m happy to lift you and your friends up. Good luck!

    • LOL – I had no idea. A happy “God-incidence” indeed :)
Looking forward to getting together for lunch in a couple of weeks!

  13. Y’all blow me away, and I’m so grateful. I just finished my post for Wednesday, so when you read it — know I’m talking about YOU. And you’re on an index card stuck inside my travel Bible. I know it’s cramped, but y’all will get along fine ;)

Thank you so much for your prayers. It won’t be long now!!

  14. What an incredible opportunity! I’ll be praying for God to guide your team and use you as His hands and feet.

  15. To the contrary, Susan! Do not consider it selfish to be lifted in prayer. Allow us to be generous with our prayers, to be giving to you! God has us all play different parts at different times: sometimes we are the goers and doers, sometimes we are the support staff. I’m excited for your trip, and will definitely be sending prayers your way.

  16. How exciting, Susan. I will be praying for your group and those you go to serve. Look forward to reading your blog on this experience!

  17. EEEK! I may be a day behind, but wanted to let you know I have your prayer in my journal, Susan. I’ll be lifting you up daily!

To God be the glory…can’t wait to hear what He’s done. ;)

  18. I may have been AWOL as far as the internet, but you stay on top of my prayer list, my friend!! Love you!
