A Monday Pause ~ Thoughts

Heavenly Father,

As we begin a new week, we confess that our thoughts will run away with us.
We’ll take offense at things we shouldn’t and
we’ll let emotions and insecurities cloud our perspectives.
Help us to remember that You make all things new,
including our wrong thinking.

When we become frustrated and discouraged because
we’re thinking on things that aren’t true,
whisper Your truth into our hearts and
help us to see things from the right perspective,
from Your perspective.

Strengthen us to do Your will this week,
In Christ Jesus’ name,
Amen

If you’re new here, welcome!
I start Mondays with a prayer, and I record each commenter’s name
in a prayer journal.

  1. Oh dear sweet friend,
I was just finishing up my morning prayer when I clicked on your Monday thoughts…it is remarkable how similiar our prayers are for the start of this week. Only, mine added…”Dear Father-I am so sorry for not listening when you have been speaking. For letting my own thoughts hinder (and be a road block) for what You have planned for me.” Oh, so thankful He is a good full of love, grace and forgiveness!
    Blessings on your week,
    Kim

    • I love that, Kim — I can be my own biggest roadblock. Good reminder to pray about that!
Thanks for stopping by. I’m praying for you this week!

  2. Thank you for beginning my week with this much needed prayer, Susan.

    Praying for you!

  3. Susan, thanks for this much needed reminder this morning. I think by now you know what to pray for. :) Love you sweet friend!

  4. Susan,
Love your picture and IT IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and prayers this morning. What a great way to start the week. Please pray for little Gracie…the little foster child who is no longer with us…and for us as we get past the grief and remember this special child. I know Jesus will carry her all the days of her life.
Thank you for this sweet place of prayer.

    • I thought about your family last week, Glenda. I hoped there might be a change, but I’ll pray for your family AND for hers. I pray they’ve turned their lives around and will provide a nurturing environment for Gracie.
Thanks for sharing that. You have an amazing heart.

  5. Loving Fall…however, it hasn’t reached Phoenix yet. I would love some prayer for my twisted knee!! I’m trapped upstairs!!! I feel like a 3rd grader coming downstairs because I sit and slide……(ok, that is a little fun for me). Doctor today, although he will say, “Ice Ice Baby”…….AND…prayer for my 2 little g’daughters! They LOVE going to church with me and I’m hoping they will soon bring their mom and dad!! :)
Hoping to leave for the ranch on Thursday….HOPING….I KNEE’D to go, but don’t know if I can!!!
Have a fabulous week my dear friend!!! Love you!!! sandi

    • I hope a lil Vanilla Ice is all you’ll be kneeding, and I hope you make it up to the ranch a couple more times before the snow hits. It won’t be long!!
      And I’m definitely praying :)

  6. Thank you for starting my week with such a beautiful prayer. Now, to work..blessed and refreshed!

  7. Susan – who DOESN’T have trouble with thoughts? Must be why this verse is in the bible. :-) Thank you for the wonderful prayer this morning. Love it. We should pray this every day!
    Blessings!

  8. You Monday prayers are always the exclamation point I need on my own quiet time each Monday morning! So thankful for you, friend.

    • Always excited to see your name pop up on my comment list, Nikki. Grateful for your friendship and encouragement :) And you know I’m keeping you close in prayer these weeks.

  9. Thanks Susan. Great prayer and a great reminder of Who is really in charge, and will make our week so much better if we rely on Him. He inspires me through you.

  10. Oh my friend, how I needed that prayer today!!! Insecurities and runaway thoughts have crept into my heart and mind. Thanks for the reminder to trust in the One who is Truth.

I love you and keep you in my prayers!

Oh, and a PS…I “monkeyed” with my settings on my blog and lost some. Blah. I was trying to make you proud with a new fall background!! You’ll have to check out http://www.theresnoplacelikekindergarten.blogspot.com. I think you’ll be delighted!

    • I saw that post on your FB wall and I can’t wait to check it out! I’m excited to see some activity over there and I am VERY proud!! Girl, you’ve got knowledge AND skill!!
And I’m praying for you too, btw. Hope the move is going well. Hugs and love to you this week!!

  11. Like all the others here, I needed to hear that. You have quite a knack for picking the verses and words we need to pray. Thank you so much!

    • I usually schedule things out 2-3 weeks, so I trust that my Monday prayers are divinely inspired and will speak to the right people at the right time. And I’m constantly amazed at His timing!
All these prayers are born out of my own personal experience/junk. I’m so grateful that God gives me a little insight on how to pray!
So glad you stopped by, Julia. I always appreciate your encouragement :)

  12. This is a beautiful prayer, Susan! Thank you.

  13. I love, ‘We’ll take offense at things we shouldn’t and
we’ll let emotions and insecurities cloud our perspectives.’ isn’t that so easy to creep into our perspectives?

  14. This prayer totally touched my heart…I found myself verbally replying to it :0). Amen Sista! AMEN!!!!

  15. YES! May we be so filled with Your love, God, that all we have to give is Your unconditional love to those who cross our paths… and to ourselves :D

  16. “When we become frustrated and discouraged because
we’re thinking on things that aren’t true,
whisper Your truth into our hearts and
help us to see things from the right perspective,
    from Your perspective.”

Hey Susan! Had a “bout” of this yesterday and in the middle of it God made me realize what was going on and that He had it under control!
