A Monday Pause – Trust

Heavenly Father, we live in a time shrouded in uncertainty.
With the presidential election next week, our country faces so many issues.
We want a strong economy and a powerful military.
We want good jobs and affordable health care.

We think these things make us secure, so we worry when they might change.

Help us to remember that YOU are the Source of everything we need.
You are our Provider, Sustainer and Protector.
You order the steps of Your children and
none of our troubles are hidden from You.

Jesus Himself reminded us that if You are concerned enough to
feed the birds and dress the lilies,
how much more will You care for us?

Thank You for seeing and knowing, for caring and supplying.
Instead of fretting, we’ll prayerfully evaluate the issues and candidates,
then cast our votes and choose to trust YOU.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Would you like for me to pray for you this week?
Leave a comment and I’ll add you to my prayer journal.

Please join me on Wednesday for
“Why I’m Not Worried About The Election”

  1. I needed this reminder today, my friend.

I plan to mail a difficult letter this week. Please pray that it will be received with an open heart and that God will be glorified as a result.

Thank you, Susan — and welcome back! I’ve been out of the loop since last week.

    • Thanks, Cathy. I’ll be sure to pray for your letter situation. And I’m just now getting back in the loop myself!

  2. What a beautiful reminder! Thank you! Also, thanks for the reminder that my serving locally is mission work…sometimes I forget and think that only the mission work overseas count. (Does that make sense?) Blessings on your Monday!

  3. What a beautiful prayer for our nation, Susan. I also need to trust the Lord with my children as I put my two homeschoolers back in public school buildings this week. Long story. But I trust God to watch over them as they shine their lights for Him in this world.

    • Praying for your kids, Alycia. I have no doubt you’ll be vigilant and help them make a smooth transition. And yes – may they shine brightly for Him!

  4. Bruce Brady says:

Thanks Susan. Like the others, I needed this reminder. In fact, the whole word needs this reminder. When we remind ourselves that God is in control, the stress melts away. God bless you and your writing.

    • Thanks so much, Bruce. You’re such a great encourager. It really does make a difference when we remember that everything sifts through His hands. Blessings on your week!

  5. One of my favorite verses, and one the Lord gave me this past year during a prayer session for a dear friend going through a horrible circumstance. It’s one I’ve committed to memory and the Lord has reminded me of during important periods. Our God is mighty to save, protect, uplift, restore, guide…fill in the blank! HALLELUJAH!! I get so excited thinking about what an incredible God we serve. If HE is for us, who can be against us!?

    Have an incredible day, sister!

Sending blessings to you from Idaho,
    Jeannette

    • YES, Jeannette — if He is for us, who CAN be against us?? We serve an amazing God. Thanks for stopping by and blessing me today :)

  6. Psalm 20:7 is one of several memorized verses that sticks with me. I love the image you chose to illustrate it!

Your post echoes our pastor’s sermon yesterday, and I appreciate hearing that message from both of you. It is so easy to start to panic when thinking of our government’s future, but we absolutely have to realize that God’s already got that covered.

You are in my daily prayers, dear friend!

    Blessings!
    ~Anna

    • Thanks, sweet Anna. God DOES have it covered, and our eyes should always be on HIM. Praying for you and hope you’re on the up-swing :)

  7. Father, my heart seconds this…
    Amen, Susan!

(and I’m not worried, either…looking forward to Wednesday’s post!) :)

  8. How appropriate and timely! I need to remember this, as lately I’ve felt very out of control- like I barely have my head above water. So I need to trust more, and will use this prayer. Thanks!

  9. What a beautiful prayer, Susan. Thanks for the reminder of the truths that the One who holds the future is able and holds it in His hands.

Praying for you, my sweet friend!! Write, write, write!!

    Love you!

  10. Thank you for the reminder, Susan. It’s so easy to complain and fret over the election, but we must remember who we trust in…and it certainly isn’t our government!
