~~~~~~~
Heavenly Father, as we get back to normal, we take a moment to
THANK YOU.
You saw us through another busy holiday season and we ask that You
help us be mindful of the gift of Your Son.
The world may give Him a passing glance every December, but
we want Him to be the center of all we do and all we are.
Thank You for sending Him to us, and for all His incarnation means.
As we begin this new year, please bless our efforts to have healthier lifestyles.
We know You created each of us for a unique purpose, and
we want to be strong, healthy and ready to fulfill that purpose.
Give us not only healthy desires, but the strength and discernment
to walk away from everything that would harm us.
In Jesus’ name, Amen
This week kicks off a new series,
New Year ~ New You
Honoring God with your body, soul and spirit
Hope to see you Wednesday as we look at our physical health.
Your turn: How can I pray for YOU this week?
All commenters will be added to my journal and prayed for throughout the week.
Susan, please pray for healing in the relationship between my husband and our 20 year old daughter who are so much alike that they butt heads and don’t hear what each other is really saying! She is moving to GA to live with my sister and her family the end of this week. I will miss her terribly but she & her dad don’t live in peace together. Thank you SO much for your prayers!
I’ll pray for all of you, Tracy. Adult children living at home can be a challenge for everyone. Hang in there!
Susan ~ please join me in “raising the roof” with praise to our God who hears and answers prayers of His people! Thank you for being a Light in this dark world.
Woot Woot! Thanks for stopping by today, Etta
Susan,
How fun!
I look forward to reading your series on getting healthy. This is one goal I have for myself this year. By the time December rolls around, I hope to be back into physical shape and have established healthy eating habits. (Our blog posts line up today.
Please pray God gives me the strength and endurance, perseverance and persistence I will need to achieve this goal. I’m only pursuing it because I want to keep my temple healthy for the Lord, so that I can fulfill his purposes in my life and not fight headaches and sinus infections and feeling sluggish all the time.
Thanks for your prayers and camaraderie!
Alycia
We really ARE on the same wavelength, Alycia! I’ll pray about this specifically for you. You’ll love my Wed post
Great series, Susan. I can’t wait to dive in!
I would appreciate your prayers as I feel God may be tugging at the heart to provide some type of ministry for women in our church. As of now, we have no women’s ministry available and nothing on the calendar for women. I want to hear Him clearly so that I don’t take on more than He desires — and that I’m also open to taking on more than I desire. Did that make sense? I need another cup of coffee.
It made perfect sense, Cathy! It’d be easy to take on a lot of responsibility, then burn out. It sounds like God has a plan for a WM at Summit, and I know you’ll be a great asset! I’m praying, and off for another cup
Beautiful prayer, Susan! And I would like a prayer for my friend, Wendy. She just had a softball size tumor removed from her uterus and a full hysterectomy (we know what THAT’S like). Ovarian cancer. The doctor believes she got it all, but the next phase is 18 weeks of chemotherapy. She is hoping to go home from the hospital today, but just feels awful…nausea, etc.
We’ve been down this road, to some extent, and the waiting is going to be unbearable. We would really appreciate your prayers! Thanks!!!!!!
Oh wow, Sandi. Ovarian is a biggie. I’ll pray for Wendy AND for you to help as she needs it. She has a long road ahead, and I’m glad you’re walking beside her
Love my Monday’s here, friend.
Enjoyed praying for each commenter above. Thank you.
Hugs to you!
Thanks for stopping by and for praying, Nikki. Hugs back!
Your prayer hit on a lot of good stuff- I don’t have much to add, except a prayer request for calm as I plan a 7 day trip and pack 6 people. I want to not loose my temper in the frenzy of preparation!
Thanks Susan!
Hope y’all are headed someplace fun, Julia! I’ll pray for your peace, and that you and the fam have a great time!
I was so excited to read this on such a wonderful Monday morning. Yes, I am working on keeping a more upbeat attitude!
Over the years I have gained and lost and gained and lost more times than I can recall. About 6 years ago I decided enough was enough and over about a 3 year time span I lost about 50 pounds. WOOT and YAY….except….
This past year had me needing THREE surgeries all of which laid me down for the count for many weeks at a time. One surgery threw me into menopause…in a matter of seconds! hello hot flashes, insomnia, lethargy, and of course weight gain. 15 pounds since March 0_0!
The fat stops here :0). Of course each year so many of us decide to “LOSE IT” and so in that respect I am glad I am not alone! God has pressed upon me a memory….of me going to the altar at church those 7 years ago and yielding my body and it’s subsequent need for food to Him. I can use all the excuses i want for gaining back close{in my mind} to all the weight I had lost. But let’s face it….the ice cream and bread did not help!
So this year, by his grace, I plan to lose 75 pounds. That’s about 1.4 pounds per week. A lofty goal to be sure. But if I lose a bit more than that over the first month or so I am hoping to keep up with losing 1 pound per week. That is a healthy, respectful weight loss.
Prayers: that I would allow Him to have the victory
my FIL {who lives in an attached apt with my MIL} is dying and it is hard to watch
my SIL has a son, 4, who has had 4 surgeries in as many months. He has sickle cell disease and she is alone dealing with this. She needs Him.
Have a awesome week! Prayed for several requests here.
Thanks for stopping by and joining the prayer, Donna. I’ll be sure to include your family as I pray for you to reach your goals this year!
Oh, how I love you, my healthy, fruity friend!!! What a beautiful photo!! (I need some Blogmama help!!! My blog is not allowing me to upload photos…ugh.)
I’m praying for you. Thanks for your prayers. Please pray for my brother and his daughter. I’ll chat with you about that sometime. God knows the need, and it is great. Thanks always for your prayers on behalf of my family.
I love you, my precious friend! Let me know when you’re ready for a Charlotte trip!
I’ll definitely pray for your brother and his daughter, Kristi. As for a trip to Charlotte? SOON, I hope! Let’s check schedules and make it happen.
It’s a constant effort that is (for many of us…at least for me!) only do-able with God’s help! Thanks for that little reminder.
Have a wonderful – and healthy day!
I hear you, Jeannette. I guess that’s why Paul told us to PRESS instead of skate
Pray for Back/Spine surgery on Jan. 17th. Thank you for your prayers so far. On a simple matter, I am having a lot of trouble renewing my drivers license online and also on the phone. My birthday is Jan 18th, the day after my surgery.
Also, continued prayer for Kristen about God bringing her future husband soon if it is God’s will. Wisdom for Justin and Anna about whether God is leading them to get married. Her visit here after Christmas was great….we all love her!
How can I pray for you, Susan? Love you, Judy
You can bet I’m praying for your surgery, Judy. And although you’re concerned, we know the Lord will work out things for Kristen and Justin. I pray He works out the issue with your driver’s license too! I ended up having to go over there, but it wasn’t bad. They have a big bus in the parking lot, and I was in and out in no time!
Praying for me? Pray that the Lord will multiply my writing time. Much to do in these next weeks and I really want to get ahead with some projects so I can seek Him on others. Thank yoU!
Susan, I need to thank God that He will answer my prayers about Justin and Kristen according to His will. For many years, I focused on 1 John 5: 14 and 15 and when something was not answered w a yes answer, I accepted that a no answer was His will. There is more I want to say but the words are not coming. Thanks for listening!
A great series, Susan, and one I am looking forward to. Usually I don’t have much of an issue with Christmas overdoing, but this year was really tough. Ugh. I’ll be rereading your prayer this week, no doubt. Thanks!
I hear you, Kim. I purposely scaled back, but even still… I wonder if it’s not the excitement as much as the activity? Regardless, I’m pooped!
What a beautiful post to begin an exciting year–can’t wait to see what you have planned for Wednesday! I will be praying that you are able to get some extra writing time–and for those who left comments here. Thanks again! Blessings on your week!
Thanks, Kim – I’m excited to hear your healthy tips! I’m sure you have collected a lot of them in your journey
I find this highly ironical after our conversation over at my place.
HIGHLY ironic, Amy… pass the chocolate gravy, please
I prayed that prayer with you, Susan. Thank you for putting words to the cry of my heart.
Thanks, Jennifer. Praying for you and the fam as you prepare for Haiti
What a great prayer, Susan…Thank you…the last stanza really struck me because just as we lose our appetite when we are very sick, when we are spiritually sick, we lose our appetite for what is good for our souls…Thanks for your kind encouragement and prayers about my dreams…Really appreciate your prayers as I want it to be His words through me. Hugs to you
Thanks for stopping by, Dolly. I’ll pray specifically about your dream in the coming months. Let God open the doors, then stride through them!
