A Monday Pause ~ InsultsPosted on Sep 9, 2013 | 38 comments
Heavenly Father, this beatitude is one of the harder ones:
we are blessed when people insult us because of You.
You know how we are: we want people to like us,
so the thought of be insulted for our faith is scary and hurtful.
I confess there are times when I should speak up, but
I keep my mouth shut.
I think about the reasons why I keep quiet, but honestly –
those reasons are LAME.
I know my friends well enough to pray this on our behalves:
Please forgive us for being timid.
Help us to always be prepared to
give a gentle, respectful reason
for the hope that we have in Christ Jesus (1 Peter 3:15).
You promise that if we open our mouths,
You will fill them (Ps 81:10, Matt 10:19).
Thank you that we can do this in the power of the Holy Spirit
and in Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
Yep, I’m squirming right along with you on that prayer.
I have no idea what our weeks will hold, but
I’ve pretty much guaranteed that He’ll give us
the opportunity to speak something in faith.
So I’ll be praying about THAT for you!
