A Monday Pause ~ On Mission

strengthen my hands Neh 6-9

Heavenly Father, we pause this morning and lift up our vocational ministers.
October is Pastor Appreciation Month
and we want to thank You for their
dedication to You and to their flocks.
Lord, they put in so many long hours and carry heavy burdens.
We expect so much of them and
often forget to thank them for their hard work.

Forgive us for taking them for granted and
show us creative ways to bless and

thank them for all they do for us.

And we thank YOU for them and ask You to grant them
a special measure of encouragement today, and
strengthen their hands so they can fulfill their calling.
Through Christ Jesus our Lord, Amen.

Thank you for joining me today! I hope you’ll be on the lookout for
ways to bless your pastor/rector/priest this month.
Even if you don’t have the resources for a gift,
a card or handwritten note would brighten their day,
and “strengthen their hands.”

And a face-to-face
“Thank you for all you do for our congregation,”

is always appreciated!

I’m heading back to Guatemala this week! Please keep our team in your prayers. If you’d like to keep up with our adventures, be sure to follow me on Facebook:

How can I pray for YOU this week?
(I’ll be taking you with me to Guatemala!)

  1. Thank you for sharing about Pastor Appreciation Month. We have a new pastor in our church so this will be a good way to let him know I appreciate him. Our previous pastor was so loved and is missed. But the new one is very good and is teaching us to memorize Scripture as he works his way through Colossians.

Have a wonderful trip. I will pray for your safety and that the Lord would bless you as you share with others.

    Blessings and love,

    • Thank you, Debbie! We’re looking forward to seeing God at work there!

  2. How about I pray for you this week? TAke a lot of pictures! Love Ya, Susta!

    • That’d be awesome, Diane! And stay tuned to my Facebook page and Instagram for pics :)

  3. Love you girl! Praying for you and our team. My spirit is stirring. WOO HOO

  4. Oh Susan, please pray for Rea! Our only neighbors at the ranch, she is such a sweet woman and has had a massive stroke. I spoke with Clyde just now and she is ‘hanging in there’ but cannot communicate. She is in Salt Lake City at the hospital.
Also, pray for our former pastor, Dan and Melinda Yeary, who are leaving Wednesday for Waco to live. She has MS and many other issues and getting her to the airport AND on the airplane will be a HUGE deal. She is a ‘total assist’ and cannot help in anyway. I just came from their house and they are both very emotional about leaving Phoenix. However, they will be close to family which will be a blessing for them.
Let’s START with those prayers!! :D I also pray for y’all as you leave for Guatemala! I know you’ll be a blessing for others and will definitely be praying for YOU! Be safe and come home safely, my friend! Love you! ♥

    • I’m so glad Rea is improving, and I’ll continue to pray for her and Clyde. And also for the Yearys. I hope they’re able to settle in and feel at home in Texas.
Thanks for YOUR prayers, Sandi. I Love you too!

  5. Cherry Titus

Hope your trip is fruitful and fulfilling. Will be praying for you and your group this week. Safe travels…love you!

  6. Beautiful prayer! Have a safe trip! Marisa

  7. This is wonderful! You know, at Camp of the Woods this summer, the speaker, Pastor Alistair Begg, said, “Don’t clap for your pastors; pray for them.” I’ve tried to remember to do that- but gifts and kind words are also a great way to support our spiritual leaders.
Have a great time in Guatemala! Can’t wait to hear about it!

    • Ooh that’s good, Julia. My pastor stays on my prayer list. Maybe Pastor Appreciation Month should be year round :)
And stay tuned to my Facebook page and Instagram for Guatemala updates!

  8. Praying for you, Susan! I look forward to keeping up with you this week. :)

I love what Julia shared via Pastor Alistair Begg. How true.

  9. Praying for you, Dolly, Alene, and your team, Susan! Praising God for what He’s going to do through each one of you! {HUGS}

    • Can’t wait until the day when YOU can go with us, Nikki :) Thank you for praying!

  10. Susan, I hope your trip to Guatemala is so blessed, your prayers answered and your un-prayed prayers answered. I will love to hear about all that you experienced and saw and felt. Bless you sister.
