Making progress? I hope!

thinkingThis is a test post.

I had an issue last week with my feed. If you visited my site, you didn’t see anything unusual. If you receive my posts by email or read on Feedly, you saw something quite unusual!

Somehow my feed was hacked, which caused me to suspend posting until we could figure out the problem. Hopefully we’re making progress and this post will be ad-free. The next step will be working and reinstalling the design elements.

In the words of Roseanne Rosannadanna, “It’s always something.”

Honestly, sometimes it’s enough to make me wonder if I should give this up altogether. And then I remember why I started this in the first place:

  • To share truth, offer hope, and find joy in the chaos of life.
  • To build a community of folks who encourage each other in their faith.
  • To make much of the Savior who never gives up on me.

So to give up would give the enemy the upper hand, and I’m not willing to do that. Even if I get sidetracked and things here look weird for a while.

I’m reminded of what the Lord spoke to the prophet Isaiah:

“… no weapon forged against you will prevail …”
Isaiah 54:17

Amen! And I would be remiss if I didn’t give a big shout-out to the wonderful DAN KING of Fistbump Media. He’s the genius behind the scenes, slaying cyber dragons and battling bad guys. You might want to pray for him as he helps me get back to normal, whatever that looks like for me 😉

Meanwhile, I so appreciate your patience and your prayers for me to get back on track.

  1. The technology of blogging is so frustrating! You know how frustrated I was switching to WordPress. But I like the look of what you are doing so far! :) I didn’t see a Monday prayer yesterday, but while I’m here I have a request….Miranda (my oldest) has a kidney stone and really needs to pass it so she can get back to school. They want her to have a procedure to take it out Friday if she doesn’t pass it, but we are hesitant about that too. And she’s missing so many classes. And we are supposed to go to Prague (yes…again) for business next Monday. We are in such a dilemma. Pray for clarity to figure this out :/ Thanks Susan! I’ll pray for some technological peace for you!

    • Yay for Prague, but boo for Miranda. I know how hard this must be for you, with her being away at school. Ugh, yes — I will definitely pray. We can get together at Allume and pray for her!

No Monday prayer this week, what with the Cialis ads and all… 😉
But that won’t stop me from praying.

  2. Yay!! So glad you’re baaaaack! Can’t wait to SEE you tomorrow!! I love you!

  3. Happiness this morning to see you back up and running to share about our Jesus!! Love the new look. Hope peace rests on you this day, friend.

    • Thank you, Alene. I’m slowly getting back in gear. Between Guatemala and Allume, I feel like my brain & heart is on overload.

  4. Susan, you’re going through something that is part of what I often refer to as my “love/hate” relationship with all things cyber. Like you, I believe God led me to start my blog to share His message, but that doesn’t mean satan won’t try to thwart my efforts. I have finally learned to make up a very long and complicated password to my blog account, and change it every month or so.

Praying for you as usual, and I’ll add your web site issues to my prayers!

    • Thank you so much, Anna! Slowly but surely… hopefully things will be resolved and I’ll have a fresh look soon!

  5. Sorry about being hacked. Keep writing, though, and sharing your voice! You’ve got such great content and offer hope to many.
    God bless!

  6. YAY for progress! Love that Isaiah 54: 17 reference. Truth!! Still praying as you get everything restored!

    • Thanks, Emily! Hopefully things will get resolved this week :)

  7. Susan, I loved seeing your name pop up in my email this morning, even if it was only a test post. I’m happy to say, no adds! Love you, precious friend!

    • YAY for no commercials in the feed! Hope to be back in a routine soon. Love you Jamie :)

  8. Susan,
I too was encouraged to see your post today. Praying for continued encouragement from all of us who love you and your posts. Just want to add…greater is He within you than he that is in the world.
    Hugs and prayers,

    • Thanks so much for that reminder, Glenda. His Word never returns void, and His purposes always prevail. What a great promise!

  9. Do you know how blessed I am to know you? I just read this post and the brain dump post after Guatemala. You are just awesome. Your site looks great – clean and crisp. I’m praying the hacker creepers stay clear. I can so relate to your feeling about giving it all up. But, your points for pressing on are the same ones that keep me going. Thanks for putting into clear words WHY we do this. You are just real and I am grateful for that. Bless you, Susan.

    • You rock, Karin. I can’t tell you what a blessing it is to know you online. I hope we get to meet in person in 2014 :)

  10. Yeah! So happy to see you today. I could so relate to having those moments of wondering why I do this but you are so right–that is the enemy and we need to remember why we began in the first place. And, yes, AMEN to the words from Isaiah. I’m grateful for you and thankful Dan was able to get you back to normal so we could see you again.
    Many blessings,

    • You’re a sweetie, Beth. Dan is doing a great job and working on some customizations as we speak. Hope to unveil a fresh look soon!

  11. Definitely do not give up! You have built up a wonderful community, and you are an inspiration to so many of us. Glad to see you back up on the site again.

    • You’re so positive, Julia, and always ready with a good word! Thanks for hanging in with me. Hope we can meet for lunch soon!

  12. Hi Susan,
Don’t give up…your voice is needed! Praying for you and the other ladies at Allume…may you experience God’s richest blessings :)

    • Thank you, Dolly! Hopefully I’ll be back to a regular posting schedule in a couple of weeks :)

  13. Praying for quick healing of your blog! And yes, I share your questions and your answers for those times when struggles like this hit. Hang in there!

    • Thank you, Vonda. You’re the very best of cheerleaders :)

  14. You are such a wonderful encourager to others and to yourself! I know that Dan is amazing and will get everything better than before! Loved being with you this weekend…lets plan on seeing each other again before next fall!

    • Oh my gosh, wasn’t Allume a blast? SO glad I’m on your short list, and looking forward to our next adventure!

  15. Why is it when I feel the most down, the most like a failure – and that’s why I feel like quiting – that is right before a big breakthrough – and those feelings are just the devil trying to interrupt God’s plan! Stick to it Susan! Praying blessing for you this week – encouragement – and sweet surprises from this amazing Father of ours!

    • Ooh — I love sweet surprises! And since He can do exceedingly abundantly above and beyond… I’m going to be on the lookout for something wonderful :) Thanks so much for your encouragement. I’m hanging in!

  16. I spent yesterday and all this morning trying to fix something on my blog. After reading and re-reading the instructions on to fix the problem I was more then confused then ever. My learning disability keeps me from learning by detailed reading…just show me a few times and I will get it.

As for giving up, well let me say at 67 there have been more times then my age. One of the reason I don’t treet and do more then one blog is because of the details, hard enough to keep one blog and my fb wall going. I say all this as a means to let you know I am grateful I drop in to read your post today. Not ever sure who blog I was on that introduced you. I gleam a lot more then I write…and usually post only once a week unless the Spirit really moves me to. BUT I love those who do post often for I often need the encouragement for my face to face ministry.
    Love your honesty .

    • Thank you so much, Betty. Honesty is the best compliment :) Don’t give up on the social media! Your voice is important and, just as you need the encouragement, there are others looking to YOU. Press on!
