I’ve always liked to talk.

My elementary school teachers gave me Bs in Conduct, explaining, “Susan likes to visit with her neighbors.”

Since when is visiting with your neighbors is a bad thing?

While my friendliness was a liability in the classroom, it’s an asset in communicating.

Not only has God cultivated a love for public speaking, He’s also given me a passion for His word. Whether it’s a group of 20 or 200 or more, the fire in my bones ignites my messages with hope and encouragement. A friend once referred to me as “God’s cheerleader.”

Events of all sizes and locations

I’ve spoken at events of various sizes throughout the years as a keynote speaker, breakout presenter, and panel contributor. I’ve helped lead several tours to the Holy Land and shared historical and devotional messages at many sites there.

I currently speak and serve on the steering committee for Radiant Roanoke, a one-day regional conference for women in Southwest Virginia.

Expository teaching

A Precept Ministries-trained Bible teacher, I help women study God’s word in context, and then apply His precepts to their lives. I believe we should always be studying the word and growing in our faith. Being grounded in the word not only makes us more discerning, it also sensitizes us to the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Credentials and topics

I’m a graduate of CLASServices and Proverbs 31 Ministries She Speaks. I’ve facilitated Bible studies in Women’s Ministry and taught in the Adult Discipleship Ministry at First Roanoke for over 20 years. While expository teaching is my passion, I’ve also spoken on parenting, social media, team building and leadership.

I have dozens of lessons and presentations in my files, and I’m happy to discuss any those with you. My preference, however, is to work with you and your leaders to prayerfully craft a custom message that is specific to your audience.

Testimonials

Susan has a clear understanding of the Scriptures

and is a spiritually gifted Bible teacher.  She is able to address real-life issues from a biblical perspective both directly and transparently. Her Bible studies and personal devotions, which she has written for our church, have always been fresh, practical, timely and from the heart.  I am grateful for her commitment and contribution to the fellowship of First Baptist Church of Roanoke.

Bryan Smith

Senior Pastor, First Roanoke

Susan has a passion for the Word of God that is contagious!

Her presentations provided both information and inspiration;  she  draws from the wellspring of both  a strong foundation of bible study and an intimate walk with the Lord. Our women thoroughly enjoyed her time among us at our Women’s Retreat; she was truly a full participant in the event and engaged our women on many levels throughout the weekend.  I strongly recommend her as a retreat speaker!

Director of Women’s Ministry, Church of the Holy Spirit

Words come alive on a page when they’re prompted by the Spirit of God

and personalized by a gifted writer and speaker/teacher. That’s the blend that communicates so effectively in Susan’s ministry. Knowing her passion for the Word of God and the expressed word for mankind, I can confidently say she “Hears It, Lives It, Writes It, Speaks It”, and that’s a combo that hits the mark!

Director of Women’s Enrichment, First Roanoke

A short sample

I’ve been to the Holy Land five times, and I helped lead four of those tours. This is a testimony I gave as our group prepared for the Lord’s Supper at the Garden Tomb in Jerusalem.

No notes, just sharing from my heart.

I'd love to talk with you about your event.
